He’s a family man with a wife and two daughters, runs a successful business and looks like a normal guy, but he’s been talking to a 14-year old online and arranged to meet her for sex in his car - but when he got there, he was caught.

I’m bringing this story to you because I want those who think this would never happen to their daughter to understand that it really can - in fact...

I’ve split the age groups into three categories, 0-5, 5-10, 10-15 and if you’re a parent, you need to be interested in this, because you cannot guarantee your child’s safety 100% as you’re not with them everywhere they go - so your next best option is to understand what they need at each age group to not be exploited for something sexual.

Huw Edwards had ‘Category A’ content (acts involving penetration) of a 7-year old on his phone and escaped jail.

What’s going on? Did the judge and the courts actually watch the videos? Probably not. 

Because if they did, they would have realised that anyone who is aroused by this content and acts on it, deserves to face the full force of the law - a prison sentence, probation and strict monitoring for the rest of their life.

I don’t know whether you know about this story, but in summary, there’s a Dutch Olympian, Steven van de Velde, who is a convicted child rapist and has been allowed to compete in the olympics - and there’s uproar about it.

Has the government gone mad? They intend to pass new guidance which includes the following,

•⁠ ⁠NO MORE education on sexual harassment to be taught before ages 11 (even though these children spend their life online)

•⁠ ⁠NO MORE discussion on sex before the age of 13 (even though some will have already done it and/or be watching hours of it on pornography sites)

Before anyone says anything about guns, this discussion is about getting to these men before they commit any crime.

Shooting them can only happen once the crime has been committed and by then we’re too late.

Girls are making a lot of money starring in scenarios where they behave underage (speaking with high pitched voices, in colourful bedrooms, whilst holding teddy bears and having sex).

There are no laws against this, so no one is breaking any rules.

This is shocking I know. But I want to speak more on this. There are many situations where force and violence are not used. It can be gentle, considered as caring, making the child feel like they are doing a good thing by letting the adult touch them in between their legs.

Think about 5-years olds, 7-year olds etc, still so vulnerable, and I know this is uncomfortable, but if we don’t start unpacking the reality of this, we stand no chance.

I'm worried about doing this. It's a discussion that's become hugely charged from both sides. This is a job that no one wants but thankfully there are people out there that are doing it. Imagine waking up every morning knowing that your day is going to be filled with visiting offenders to ensure they are not re-offending.

Beth Hoel spent 25-years working with prisoners who had served their sentence and were now released back into the community. She explains some of the things she learnt along the way.

There’s problems with my school presentation. People are surrounding me with red tape telling me I need to do this and need to do that. Why do us adults complicate everything? I can engage a room full of teenagers into something that traditional classroom techniques cannot. That should be enough.

Obviously, our answer to this is YES. But this lawyer comes onto national TV to explain why it's not possible. There are 100,000 convicted sex offenders currently on the register (walking our streets), and to put them all in prison for life would come at an astronomical cost that no one is prepared to pay for. Alongside the fact that our prison capacity is  85,000 and it’s already full with other criminals.
