They talk about the charm of Tom Atkins, props held up by brooms, incredible performances by Leslie Neilson and Adrienne Barbeau, oversharing family secrets, the history of EC Comics, capturing the feeling of comic books, the connectivity of Creepshow and what happens when Stephen King and George Romero come to make a film that delivers on it's promise: It's the most fun you'll have being SCARED!

This week, Leo & Steven conclude our deep dive into the amazing creature feature THE FLY (1986). They talk about cool scenes on the cutting room floor, the brilliance of Geena Davis, being in-polite while throwing up on your food, monster movies throwbacks, the complicated nature of Stathis, the various ways that Brundle interprets his situation and what happens when you have a movie that is horrifying and deeply heartfelt. This is one of the best!  

This week, Leo & Steven begin our deep dive into David Cronenberg's amazing creature feature THE FLY (1986)! They talk about Seth Brundle's pick-up game, unfortunate last names, nailing the mood lighting, the power of "the flesh", lines and exchanges with multiple meanings, the "death" of Brundle and The Fly and what happens when the first 45 minute of a 90 minute movie packs in more charisma, character and engaging ideas than most 3 hour art house horror films. 

This week, Leo and Steven continue their struggle session over Rob Zombie's 31. They talk about heroes with integrity and villains who are cowards, living your best life as a contract killer, amazing performance by Richard Brake and Meg Foster, what it's like to work at the 31 office and what happens when you really, really, really want to like a movie... but it keeps shooting itself in the foot. Don't play a drinking game counting the amount of times we say "Rob Zombie", it will kill you. 

This week, Leo and Steven sit down and have a struggle session over Rob Zombie's crowd sourced movie 31. They talk about edge lord monologues, rad needle drops, heroes that Rob Zombie can stomach, incredible performances by Richard Brake and Meg Foster, strange french wigs and what happens when a good director can't help but lean into all his best and worst traits. This is Part 1 of 2! 

This week, Steven and Leo navigate more franchise waters to cover a movie no one liked: Spiral! They talk about Chris Rock the actor versus Chris Rock the comedian, how many candles you have to melt to get a barrel of hot wax, being in the right place at the right time, the politics of a movie where a black guy plays a cop in a crocked precinct and what happens when your not a big fan of the Saw franchise, but this movie give you what you wanted in the other films. 

This week, Leo and Steven sit down to watch demons slap the shit out of people in Drag Me To Hell! They talk about the good old days when psychics could afford a house, Romanian stereotypes, strong characterization and visual storytelling, whether or not denying a loan means you deserve to burn in hell forever, five star blow jobs, clever fight sequences and what happens when Sam Raimi makes a movie that has the fun of Evil Dead without making an Evil Dead film.

This week, Steven and Leo enjoy a good old tale from the heart of New England called We Are Still Here. They talk about another great performance by Barbara Crampton, What a real New England Winter looks like, how much it cost to get an apartment in Heaven, character actors versus caricatures, awesome back stories for your new house and what happens when you give a movie you once hated a second chance. 

This week, Leo and Steven go down into the cellar to watch the 2013 remake of Evil Dead. They talk about superior visual storytelling, messy timelines, the cleaning fees for cabins filled with dead cats, bringing your new girlfriend to a heroin detox party, superior hot water heaters, new tricks with old shtick and what happens when a remake gets to have it's cake and eat it too. Get ready for a love fest! This movie is a blast. 

This week, Steven, Leo and the "Third Member of Spoils of Horror" watch the next movie sure to be released by Vinegar Syndrome, The Dorm That Dripped Blood.  They talk about bad slashers that check all the boxes (Red Herrings, POV Shots, multiple titles and Unfunny Pranksters), surprise cameos, editing out the good stuff (Boobs and Gore), furniture selling procedurals and what happens what a bad movie... kinda lands the ending.

This week, Leo and Steven gaze in the mirror to watch Oculus! They talk about the great Karen Gillian, mirrors with vendettas, mismatched offices, major nerd cred, and what happens when a good idea, solid execution and strong writing come to make a pretty cool horror film. Check out Oculus!

They talk about the Transylvania real-estate crisis, walking from China, D being for Dracula, some perfect lighting, the great work of Peter Cushing and David Chiang, and what happens when a legendary team up between Hammer Films and The Shaw Brothers is flawed and incomplete while being an epic team thats an absolute blast.

Maybe even superb to the original.

They make lots of Rocky references, talk about the talent of Steve Miner, actor improv time, washing away blood with dish-soap, "behind-the-scenes" moments, a killer final girl marathon and what happens when a simple movie strikes the perfect balance between being scary, funny and charmingly imperfect.

Episode 117: This week, Steven and Leo check in to Danvers State Hospital and stare at the wall to watch Session 9. They talk about visual story telling, setting as a character in the film, strange art made from the dead, how much explanation is too much explanation,  

This week, Leo and Steven enter the disintegrator for the 1958 classic, THE FLY!!!! They talk about old school special effects, a warm turn by Vincent Price, SCIENCE!, using a hydraulic press, a surprisingly gory scene and the universal concerns of science  moving too fast and the hubris of a driven man. 

This week, Steven and Leo watch the horror film When Evil Lurks! They talk about having a strong script, bad reviews for great movies, hitting yourself in the face with ax, Leo's weird Luigi references, when the rules aren't clear (and that's a strength), and horror fans that try to ruin art-house horror for the rest of us.
